The Annual Sports Day of St. Francis De Sales School was celebrated on 17th January 2025. The day unfolded with a grand Flag Color March escorting the Guests to the dais. The Chief Guest and Guest of Honor duo made the day a very unique one for the students and parents of the school. It was a euphoric moment for the school to have its Alumnus Miss Gauravi Naik, the National 4x100 Meter Relay Gold Medalist at Junior National Athletic Championship, as the Chief Guest for the day. The presence of Mr. Mukund Singh Negi, Former Physical Education Teacher of St. Francis De Sales School and the National Best Teacher Awardee, FPSA, Punjab as the Guest of Honor added eloquent bliss to the moment. More than 900 students from the primary and secondary section of the school participated in various colorful drills and running events, rendering the theme for the day – “The Saga of Indian Sports - Ancient Roots to Modern Glory”.

Pursuant to the introduction of the theme was the vibrant and expressive inaugural dance performed by the students of primary section which was choreographed by the ex-student Miss Arya Ghate.

The influx of Games Torch by the Sports Captains Master Nachiket Linge and Miss Vishaka Sakore followed by the School flag hoisting by the Chief Guest and the synchronous March Past by the four houses was thunderously applauded by the audience which was judged by Mr. Dnyaneshwar Alhat, NCC Instructor of Air Force School and Mr. Bhagwat Kolhe, Former Physical Education Teacher, Stella Maris School.

The audience gushing with excited parents was greeted with a spirited welcome drill performance with colorful umbrellas and bright pom poms by the students of Preeti and Pragati house of the secondary section. The rhythmic drill performed by the students of Jyoti and Shanti house featuring dumbbells and lezim captivated the hearts of all.

The Theme Drill narrated the rise of Indian Sports from ancient Archery, Sword, Javelin, Wrestling, Kabaddi, Kho Kho to modern games like Hockey, Cricket and badminton. The drill was beautifully concluded by the formation of Olympic rings and a stunning human pyramid glorifying Indian Sports.

Speeches given by the Guests and the School Manager Fr. Tony added flair to the gratifying day.   A Grand Prize distribution ceremony was held to celebrate the achievements of deserving students who excelled in academics and sports including best athletes and best outgoing sports students. They were rewarded with cash prizes, certificates and trophies. The teachers who devotedly served the institute for 25 years were felicitated with mementoes. Shanti house emerged as the overall Champion house for the year 2024-25. A special prize was declared by Mr. Mukund Singh Negi for Miss Gauravi who was also conferred with a scholarship of Rs. 35000/- by the school management for her exemplary performance in the field of athletics which brought laurels to the school. The Principal Fr. Anthoniswamy delivered a befitting vote of thanks to conclude the astonishing event.

Keeping the development of leadership qualities, sportsmanship spirit and team work in mind our school organizes tons of sports competitions at interhouse and interschool level including Football, Basketball, Cricket, Tug of War, Skipping, Dodgeball, Throwball, Kho-Kho and Athletics.

Indoor Games

 

A healthy mind lives in a healthy body. Mental health is imperative for physical health.  If the mind is unsullied and pure, it will greatly help in maintaining physical well-being and health. To keep the mind relaxed from monotonous routines Indoor sports activities like yoga, carrom, chess, along with fitness drills for mental strength of the students.
